Frank Klingebiel

Frank Klingebiel (born June 9, 1964 in Salzgitter ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and Lord Mayor of the city of Salzgitter. Klingebiel is Catholic, married and has two children.

Life

After graduating from high school in Salzgitter-Bad in 1984 , he embarked on a career in the higher service of the federal asset management and in 1987 became a qualified financial economist . After completing his training, he took up a job at the Federal Property Office in Soltau . After completing basic military service (1988–1989) he worked in the district of Goslar (1989–1994), from where he moved to the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economics, Technology and Transport in 1994. Since 1997 Klingebiel was in the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior and Sportactive. Since 1999, he has been responsible for the management and distribution of the needs allocation fund, as well as the supreme financial supervision of the Lower Saxony municipalities, municipalities and districts.

Klingebiel is involved in associations from Salzgitter. He is a recreational athlete and is also dedicated to promoting young talent as a football youth coach. Klingebiel is a member of a cabaret in Salzgitter.

In 2006 the CDU candidate reached the runoff election against the incumbent Helmut Knebel in the election for the office of Lord Mayor of the City of Salzgitter , which he won on September 24, 2006 with 51.7% of the vote.

On November 1, 2006, Klingebiel was sworn in as Lord Mayor.

In June 2010, Klingebiel was elected President of the Lower Saxony City Council (NST). With effect from June 1, 2012, Klingebiel was appointed to the Supervisory Board of Norddeutsche Landesbank . To this end, he stated that he wanted to represent the interests of the Braunschweig region in this committee .

In 2014, Klingebiel became mayor with a very clear majority of 65% compared to the non-party candidate Sabine Fricke (29.1%), Hermann Fleischer (Die Linke / 4.2%) and Edward Majewski (non-party / 1.6 Percent) re-elected.
