Frank Klitzsch

Frank Klitzsch (born September 18, 1957 , † September 18, 1976 ) was a German table tennis player .

Success in youth tournaments

In 1972 Klitzsch won the first national ranking tournament TOP-12 for students. A year later he repeated this success in the TOP 12 youth tournament.

In 1972 the DTTB nominated him for the European Schoolchildren Championship in Vejle, where he won silver with the team. In 1974 he was invited to the European Boys' Championship.

In the same year he was (together with M.Gräf) German runner-up in the boys' doubles. In 1975 he took second place in the individual at the German Boys' Championship in Heddesheim, he lost in the final against Ralf Wosik .

Senior career

Klitzsch's first club was the TGS Rödelheim . At the age of 15 - from 1972 - he played with the Eintracht Frankfurt team in the Bundesliga . In 1975 he moved to VfB Altena , with whom he became German champion in 1976.

In 1976 Klitzsch had a fatal car accident near Herborn.
