Frank Lortz (born June 5, 1953 in Seligenstadt ) is a Hessian politician of the CDU , member of the Hessian state parliament and was from April 5, 2003 to April 5, 2008 and has been vice-president of the state parliament since February 5, 2009.

From 1969 to 1972 Frank Lortz completed an apprenticeship as a banker and then worked as a banker at the Seligenstadt district savings bank until 1973. Between 1973 and 1977 he studied business administration.

He is currently an independent business and marketing consultant. He is also a member of the supervisory board of Union Umschau Media Verlags-, Werbe- und Servicegesellschaft mbH and a 33.3% shareholder in Union Umschau Media GmbH; Deputy member of the Board of Directors and member of the Credit Committee, the Construction Committee and the Personnel Committee of Landesbank Hessen / Thuringia; Member of the publishing council of the "Hessen Kurier"; Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sparkasse Langen-Seligenstadt Foundation “For children and young people in our region”; Member of the Advisory Board North of SV Sparkassenversicherung; Chairman of the Savings Bank Association Langen-Seligenstadt; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sparkasse Langen-Seligenstadt; Member of the association assembly of the Sparkassenverband Hessen / Thüringen and supporting member in around 60 other clubs and associations.

Frank Lortz has been the founder and chairman of the Froschhausen Association since 1979 and had a major impact on the association's activities in the village of Froschhausen until he resigned from his position in 2015. He has been honorary chairman since then.

Lortz has been the recipient of the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class , since 2003 .

He is Roman Catholic, married, has two children and lives in Froschhausen .

Political career

In 1969 Lortz joined the CDU. From March 1977 to June 2008 he was a member of the Seligenstadt city council. From 1977 to 1982 Lortz was managing director of the CDU parliamentary group in the Offenbach district and from 1979 to 2001 chairman of the CDU local branch in Froschhausen. In 1980 he became deputy district chairman of the CDU Offenbach-Land. Lortz has been a member of the Offenbach district committee since April 1985. Between March 1989 and March 1997 he was chairman of the CDU city council group and on April 1, 1997, he became deputy chairman of the city council assembly.

Frank Lortz has been a member of the Hessian state parliament since December 1, 1982. From 1987 to 1991 he was chairman of the sub-committee for the review of the state budget accounts. From March 1999 to March 2003 he was deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group and currently vice president of the parliament.

In the state elections in Hesse in 2009 on January 18, 2009 Lortz stood as a direct candidate for the Offenbach Land III constituency and was able to a. against Judith Pauly-Bender , the SPD candidate , and René Rock , the FDP candidate.

In 1999, 2004, 2009, 2010 and 2012 he was a member of the Federal Assembly .

He is honorary chairman of the Junge Union at local, city and district level, financial policy spokesman for the CDU Hessen and since 2001 honorary chairman of the CDU Froschhausen.
