Frank Lorymer Riseley
Frank Lorymer Riseley (born July 6, 1877 in Bristol , † February 6, 1959 in Torquay , England ) was an English tennis player.
Riseley took part in tennis tournaments from 1892. His greatest achievement was winning doubles at the Wimbledon Championships in 1902 and 1906 alongside Sydney Howard Smith . The two beat the brothers Laurence and Reginald Doherty , who were considered the best players in doubles and singles at the turn of the century. In 1906 he also reached the Challenge Round at Wimbledon, but lost it to Lawrence Doherty. In addition, he won the Scottish Championships in 1902 and the Irish Championships in 1906 . In 1904 he played for Great Britain in the Davis Cup . After he had largely withdrawn from active tennis in 1907, he played again at the tournament in Wimbledon in 1919, after the First World War , but was defeated by Royden Dash in the second round. In 1922 he last took part in the Davis Cup.
