Sir Frank Lowy (born October 22, 1930 in Fiľakovo , Slovakia ) is an Australian entrepreneur .

Life

Lowy comes from a Jewish family and lived in Budapest as a child . From 1946 to 1952 he lived in Israel and then moved to Australia. Lowy founded and ran the Australian retail company Westfield Group . According to Forbes magazine , Lowy is one of the richest Australians. Lowy has been President of the Football Federation Australia since 2003 . From 2008 to 2010 he and his company came into the focus of US tax investigations after a collaboration with Swiss and Liechtenstein banks ( LGT Bank ) was uncovered.

Lowy has been the owner of the yacht Ilona since 2003 , it is his fourth yacht of this name and has circumnavigated the world four times.

He is married with three sons who have taken over the management of Westfield and lives in Sydney .
