Frank Robert Mascara (born January 19, 1930 in Belle Vernon , Fayette County , Pennsylvania , † July 10, 2011 in Monongahela , Pennsylvania) was an American politician ( Democratic Party ).

Life

Mascara was born in January 1930 to Italian immigrants. He attended Belle Vernon High School . From 1946 to 1947 he served in the United States Army . He then studied at the California University of Pennsylvania in California , Pennsylvania, where he received his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1972 .

From 1974 to 1980 Mascara was controller of Washington County and then acted as chairman of the county's board of commissioners from 1980 to 1994 .

In 1994 he was elected a Democrat to Congress and represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives from January 3, 1995 to January 3, 2003 . As an MP, he was a member of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs and later the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure . In 2002 he tried unsuccessfully to be a candidate for election to the 108th Congress.

Mascara was married twice. He had a son and a daughter from his first marriage and two sons from his second marriage. He died on 10 July 2011 at the age of 81 years in the Monongahela Valley Hospital of lung cancer .
