Frank Maus

Frank Maus (* 1937 in Haan ) is a German pianist and composer .

biography

Frank Maus grew up in Solingen and, after graduating from high school, studied piano and composition at the Cologne State Music Academy. In 1964 he was solo tutor at the Vienna State Opera and two years later solo tutor at the Deutsche Oper Berlin . He held this position until 1981. Then he moved to the University of the Arts in Berlin , where he received a professorship. From 1967 to 1989 Maus worked with Herbert von Karajan , among other things as a coach, musical advisor for Deutsche Grammophon and EMI and as Karajan's personal assistant.

From 2005, Frank Maus worked for several years as the artistic director of the Conservatory Sanssouci International (COSI) in Potsdam, which had been closed for a long time .

There was also collaboration with Lorin Maazel , Robert Stolz , Leonard Bernstein , Yehudi Menuhin , Daniel Barenboim , Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau , Luciano Pavarotti , Plácido Domingo , Max Rostal , Nathan Milstein and Gregor Piatigorsky . Frank Maus was a member of the Berlin Philharmonic from 1982 to 1989 .

  • The great wall. Opera. First performed in 1993 in Taipei, a second version was performed in 1996 in Yokohama.
  • Samel e Sanhong. Opera. World premiere in Seoul 2004.
  • Chopin No. 3. Piano Concerto.
  • Humanity to man. Cantata for baritone and piano. Dedicated to Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.
  • Numerous piano and chamber music works in various formations.
