Frank McGuinness
Frank McGuinness (born July 29, 1953 in Buncrana , County Donegal ) is an Irish playwright , poet and translator .
Life
McGuinness studied English literature at University College Dublin . After completing his studies he worked as a lecturer first at the University of Ulster and then at the National University of Ireland , Maynooth. He is Writer in Residence and since 2007 Professor of Creative Writing at University College Dublin.
His first dramatic success was Factory Girls (1982). Shortly thereafter, he had his probably greatest success with the award-winning piece Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme (1985).
His poetry collection Booterstown was published in 1994.
McGuinness lives in Booterstown near Dublin .
