Frank Percy Bibas (* 17th January 1917 in New York City ; † 16th October 1997 in Fort Myers , Florida ) was an American film producer , screenwriter and filmmaker, who in 1962 with an Oscar for his documentary short film Project Hope has received is.

biography

Bibas, who flew over 100 combat missions as a pilot in the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) during World War II , worked from 1958 as a producer and screenwriter for various episodes of the television miniseries The Veil , in which the actor Boris Karloff presented supernatural events and the inexplicable. Destination Nightmare formed the pilot for the series and the horror film The Veil concluded.

In 1962 Bibas was awarded an Oscar in the category “Best Documentary Short Film” for his film about the maiden voyage of the hospital ship “SS Hope”. The film was included in the 2006 National Film Registry , a directory of American films that are considered particularly worth preserving.

Bibas also produced over 3000 radio and television commercials, including several particularly well-known in America.

Frank Percy Bibas, who was married to Susan Ellis Bibas, died in 1997 at the age of 80 in Fort Myers.
