Frank Riva is a 6-part television series by France 2 and ZDF with Alain Delon in the title role. In Germany only three parts were broadcast in spring 2004.

season 1

Episode 1 - The Man From Nowhere (L'homme de nulle-part)

Tony Rizzoni and his men Roth, Sebastian and Buscema surprise drug dealer Eric Schell at a handover, in which Rizzoni is seriously injured. He falls into a coma. Frank Riva is reactivated from hiding. He was smuggled into the Loggia family in the 1970s. When the two Loggia brothers were arrested, Riva had to flee. At first, Riva has some difficulties with colleagues because he is an old loner. That changes when he reveals that Rizzoni was his brother. Rizzoni dies. Riva finds Schell's hiding place, but Schell was executed. It turns out that Roth worked for Schell and shot Rizzoni on the job. Therefore Schell had to die too. Roth is provided by Riva and Commissioner Herzog can still dissuade Riva from taking revenge on Roth.

Episode 2 - An open account (La croix étoilée)

Three former members of the Loggias are executed by a stranger. Norbert just escapes an attack. He turns to Francois Melfi, who was injured in the first attack because he was mistaken by the killer. The killer hands out crosses from a village next to the home of the Loggias. Frank Riva finds the shooter. It is a woman who wants to avenge the death of her father. But that's not what worries Riva, because he learns that he is the father of Nina Rizzi. The woman wants to meet Norbert. When they put Norbert Loggia on an airfield, there is a showdown in which Norbert is killed.

Episode 3 - Alone Against Crime (Le dernier des trois)

After Frank Riva has brought his daughter into the care of Sebastian, Maxime Loggia's men kidnap her from there. It turns out that Nina von Maxime is pregnant. Riva's friend Xavier, the police chief, wants to convict Maxime for good and gives him complete freedom of action. Riva's people manage to intercept a CD with precise plans for a drug delivery. During this handover, however, the drug search intervenes and Riva intercepts the courier. He wants to use the delivery to free Nina in exchange for it. When Maxime has to explain himself to his Colombian partners, he gets an offer that two killers are already on their way to get Riva out of the way. Riva frees his daughter, but Maxime, seriously injured, flees without his delivery. When he is called to his girlfriend Catherine, two killers are already waiting for him. But Riva is lucky, one of them is an internal investigator. When Xavier's wife succumbs to her illness, Riva recognizes through various clues that Xavier had a hand in many events. At the funeral he ends his friendship.

Remarks

  • The basic plot of the first 3 parts has similarities with the Delon film The Panther from 1985. Back then, Delon and Perrin played similar roles.
