Frank Schönherr

Frank Schoenherr (* 19th February 1964 ) is a former German cyclist and DDR -Master in cycling .

Athletic career

Schönherr was a member of the ASK Vorwärts Frankfurt an der Oder . He won the team time trial title at the GDR championships in 1988 with Dan Radtke , Volker Prix and Torsten Bredow, as well as the FDGB cup in the team time trial. In 1987 he was second and 1986 third in the championships in this discipline. With the victory in the Tour of Romania in 1986, Schönherr was also able to win an international stage race. He started five times in the GDR tour and achieved his best placement with 22nd place in 1988. In 1988 he finished second in the third edition of the international Golan Tour in Syria over six stages behind Hans-Joachim Pohl .

After 1989 he started for the Lower Saxony association IGAS Wendland.

Even after leaving the ASK, Schönherr continued to ride bicycle races for everyone. At the age of 45 he started cycling with his son Philipp.
