Frank Töppe (born June 2, 1947 in Bleicherode ; † August 8, 1997 in Meerbusch ) was a German author and graphic artist.

Life

Töppe studied economics , received his doctorate in 1973 and spent several years doing scientific research in this area. From 1976 to 1978 he worked as a publishing editor.

His "methodological, phenomenological inclination, which is oriented towards the context and strives to grasp the world and man as a unit" (Töppe about himself) formed the background of his turn to science fiction literature. In 1978 his utopian short story volume Regen auf Tyche was published . From this point on he was exclusively active as an artist.

There were publications of stories, poems, essays, radio plays over newspapers, magazines and radio stations, radio lectures on the effects of modern music. In the field of fine arts, book covers, illustrations, posters, and free graphics have been published.

In 1980 his children's book The Green Tuul was published . An invitation issued in the same year by Joseph Beuys to his FIU in Düsseldorf to read his 1978/79 work Ein Gastmahl Goethe or Die Verfluche der Ökonomie angered the GDR Ministry of Culture: current contracts were terminated, subsequent editions prevented, new projects rejected. In 1983 Töppe fled to West Germany.

In 1984 Bert Schlender published the story Depth of the Place . Töppe's main work, The Secret of the Well - Attempt at a Mythology of Fairy Tales , was written between 1980 and 1990. It comprises four volumes. The end of this work is the independent volume In the Sign of the Three Golden Hair , which was created in the subsequent period up to 1993. All five volumes were published by Edition Vogelmann. In the period from 1994 to 1997, eight further books with poems and stories by Töppe were published by the same publisher.
