Frank Willett

Frank Willett (born August 18, 1925 in Bolton , Lancashire , † June 15, 2006 in Glasgow ) was a British art historian and Africa explorer.

Frank Willett received a diploma in anthropology from Manchester University and specialized in archeology. From 1956 to 1963 he worked in Nigeria as Honorary Surveyor of Antiquities , where he was temporarily head of the Ife Museum of the city of Ile-Ife .

In 1966 he became Professor of Art History and African Studies at Northwestern University . From 1976 to 1990 he was director of the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery at the University of Glasgow .
