Qernertivartivit [ ˌqɜnːɜtːivɑtːivit ] ( Kitaamiusut Qernersuarsuit [ ˌqɜnːɜsːuɑsːuitˢʰ ]; according to the old spelling K'ernertivartivit or K'ernerssuarssuit ) is a waste fallen Greenland settlement in the district Ammassalik in the Sermersooq .
location
Qernertivartivit is located on an island of the same name in Ammassaliip Kangertiva . There are several small islands right in front of the village, Saartia , Kuuppaararteq , Kiatterpaarajik , Aappappik and Qalereersaartaqarti . Qernertivartivit is also located on the Ikaasaajik strait , the foothills of which intersect with the Ammassalik Ø . It is also located in the center of the four towns Tasiilaq in the southwest (19 km), Tiniteqilaaq in the northwest (29 km), Kuummiit in the northeast (21 km) and Kulusuk in the southeast (17 km).
history
Qernertivartivit became a permanent settlement in 1919. The Tunumiit were originally a nomadic people . The population never exceeded 45 people, which means that the place was always small even by Greenlandic standards. In 1959 a shop was built.
Population development
Since the 1990s at the latest, hardly any people have lived in Qernertivartivit. At the beginning of the 21st century only one person was counted. Nobody has lived here since 2005. Only in 2016 was a single person counted as living in Qernertivartivit.
