Pulaqqavik [ puˈɾɑqːavi (k) ] (according to the old spelling Pularĸavik ) is a deserted Greenlandic settlement in the district of Ammassalik in the communeqarfik Sermersooq .

location

Pulaqqavik is located on mainland East Greenland. Directly to the west, the Pulaqqaviip Kuua flows into the sound in front of Pulaqqavik, which is called Pulaqqaviip Ikaasaa to the east and Pulaqqaviip Kangertiva to the south . On the opposite bank is the island of Skjoldungen .

history

Pulaqqavik is one of the four settlements that belong to Skjoldungen . As such, the residential area was settled between 1938 and 1940. Between 1943 and 1954, an average of about 20 residents have survived. It is not known when Pulaqqavik was abandoned. By 1964 at the latest, however, the region was completely deserted again.
