Frank Zeller (born April 23, 1969 in Burgberg , today a district of Giengen an der Brenz ) is a German chess player , author and trainer.

Frank Zeller has lived in Tübingen since 1992 and studied history and philosophy at the Eberhard Karls University there . Zeller writes articles for chess magazines, for example tournament reports appear regularly in Rochade Europa .

successes

He has been an international master since 2001 . He fulfilled his first IM standard at the German Championships in Dudweiler in 1996 . He got the second norm in the 2nd Bundesliga South 2000, the third at a Tübingen tournament in 2001.

In 1987 he was tied for first at the 1st Black Forest Open in Altensteig , in 2006 he won the Autumn Open in Deizisau and in 2007 the 6th Sparkasse Open in Forchheim . Zeller was Württemberg single champion in 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2003, he was Württemberg champion in rapid chess in 1998 and 2001.

In the German 1st Bundesliga he played for SV Tübingen from 1994 to 1996, for Stuttgart Chess Friends from 2001 to 2003 and for SK Schwäbisch Hall from 2014 to 2018 . In the 2018/19 season Zeller was registered for the SF Deizisau , but was only used for the second team in the Oberliga Württemberg, in the 2019/20 season he plays for BCA Augsburg . Zeller has also played for the chess clubs VfL Sindelfingen and SG Schwäbisch Gmünd in the 2nd League South and the Oberliga Württemberg. He plays for SC Bodan in the Swiss national leagues B and A and the Swiss Bundesliga .
