The Frankfurter Bürgerstiftung im Holzhausenschlösschen is a non-profit , independent foundation under civil law based in Frankfurt am Main .

history

It was founded in 1989 to research the history of Frankfurt citizens, families, initiatives, institutions and their foundations.

The founding members of the Frankfurt Civic Foundation are the Cronstett and Hynspergian Evangelical Foundation , the Roman and Helmine Spagl Foundation, the Ernst Max von Grunelius Foundation, the Allgemeine Hypothekenbank Foundation, Ms. Barbara von Metzler, Degussa AG and the Institut für Gemeinwohl GmbH. The seat and venue of the events has been the Holzhausenschlösschen in Frankfurt's Nordend since the beginning .

It has been a place of art and culture since the Renaissance . The moated castle , which can be reached via a stone bridge , was given its shape in the years 1727 to 1729. One of the first measures taken by the Frankfurt community foundation was the renovation of the dilapidated building. The former fortified estate at the gates of Frankfurt, first mentioned in 1398, was a popular meeting place for Frankfurt artists and scholars as early as the 16th century. Hamman von Holzhausen set up his family's summer residence here, and the building, which had been rebuilt several times, remained in their possession until the family died out in 1923.

The foundation maintains an office with several employees. Since 2016, the administration has consisted of York Freiherr von Lersner (first administrator), Constantin H. Alsheimer (second administrator), Felix Freiherr von Lepel (treasurer) and the other administrator Peter M. Haid. Clemens Greve has been the managing director since 1997.
