Franklin Bircher
Franklin Emil Bircher , also Bircher-Rey , (born May 31, 1896 in Zurich ; † January 31, 1988 there , reformed , entitled to live in Zurich) was a Swiss doctor and politician (LdU) .
Life
Franklin Bircher, son of Maximilian Oskar Bircher-Benner , began studying medicine at the University of Zurich , which he completed in 1922 with the academic degree of Dr. med. completed. Subsequently, he ran his own practice in Bern from 1923 to 1929 , after which he was employed in his father's private clinic. He then headed the Institute for Nutritional Therapy in Paris from 1931 to 1936 , before returning to the Bircher Benner Clinic from 1939 to 1942 as chief physician. During this time he initiated the Bircher Public Sanatorium Foundation in Zurich (1939) and the Bircher Höhenstation in Davos (1942). From 1946 until his death he worked as a private doctor in Zurich.
In addition, Franklin Bircher was politically active. He was one of the co-founders of the State Ring of Independents (LdU). From 1935 to 1939 he took a seat on the National Council .
Franklin Bircher married Hedwig née Rey in 1923 and Alice née Jundt in 1950. He died on January 31, 1988, four months before the age of 92, in his native Zurich. He found his final resting place in the Fluntern cemetery in Zurich . His tomb was lifted.
Act
Franklin Bircher enjoyed international renown as a doctor, although he repeatedly took a position against conventional medicine . In 1939 he successfully campaigned for the approval of chiropractic in the Canton of Zurich .
