František Jaromír Rubeš

František Jaromír Rubeš (born January 16, 1814 in Čížkov , Bohemia , † August 10, 1853 in Skuteč ) was a Czech writer .

Life

František Jaromír Rubeš was the son of a brewery tenant. After attending grammar school in Deutschbrod , he moved to Prague . Here he first devoted himself to theological training at the seminary for three years starting in 1834 , but then switched to studying law , which he completed from 1837 to 1845 at the University of Prague . In addition to learning the legal discipline, he also worked as an educator. After completing his studies, he devoted himself to a career as a judicial officer and took up this profession from 1845 in Karlín , from 1847 in Načeradec , from 1850 in Kutná Hora and finally from 1851 in Skuteč.

From 1842 to 1847 Rubeš was co-editor of the first Czech humorous magazine Paleček . He wrote jokes and humorous poems (including Deklamovánky a písně [ie declamation pieces and songs ], 6 volumes, 1837–47), in which he exposed human weaknesses with pointed humor. He also caricatured famous poets and parodied historical sagas . In this way he entertained the Biedermeier bourgeoisie . He also wrote humorous popular stories and short stories with accurate character drawings (including Pan amanuensis na venku aneb Putování za novelou (ie Mr. Amanuensis in the country or The Journey to the Novella ), 1842).
