František Mezihorák

František Mezihorák (born October 6, 1937 , Vracov , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech historian and politician .

Life

František Mezihorák studied the history of the Czech language at the Philosophical Faculty of the Palacký University in Olomouc . There he received an assistant position in 1960, but was dismissed because of his commitment during the Prague Spring in 1969 and worked as a secondary school teacher until 1989. In 1989 he was rehabilitated and returned to Palacký University, where he established the Chair of European Studies . He was also Dean of the Faculty of Education between 1991 and 1997 and between 2003 and 2006.

Political activity

He served in the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic from 1998 to 2004. Between 2008 and 2012 he was a member of the parliament of the Olomoucký kraj region . Between 2006 and 2014 he was also a member of parliament in the city of Olomouc. He is a member of the social democratic party Česká strana sociálně Demokratieická (ČSSD).
