František Pavlíček

František Pavlíček (born November 20, 1923 in Lukov u Zlína , † September 29, 2004 in Prague ) was a Czech dramaturge and screenwriter .

Life

Pavlíček studied Slavic Studies and Aesthetics at the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague. From 1950 he took the position of editor at the Czechoslovak Radio , later he worked as a dramaturge in the Barrandov film studios . In 1965 he was appointed artistic director of the Divadlo na Vinohradech theater . After 1970, because of his involvement during the Prague Spring, he was forced to resign from all offices in cultural life. His works were banned. In 1977 he signed Charter 77 . Until 1989 he was employed as a worker in several companies. Books that appeared during this period were mostly published under the names of his friends or under a pseudonym . In 1990, Pavlíček was appointed director of the Czechoslovak Radio Institute. In 1992 he retired. In 2004 he died after a serious illness.
