Lukov (German: Groß Lukau ) is a municipality in Okres Zlín in the Czech Republic .
history
The history of the place is closely linked to the nearby castle of the same name. The first mention of the place name comes from the year 1235, the first written evidence of the existence of the castle dates from 1332. The originally royal rule came into aristocratic possession in the 14th century and belonged to the Sternberg family until the beginning of the 16th century . From 1512, several owners took turns, including the lords of Kunstadt . In 1607 it came to Lukrezia Nekeš von Landek ( Lukrécie Nekšovna z Landeka ), widowed von Witschkow ( z Vícková ), who married Albrecht Wenzel Eusebius von Waldstein for the second time in 1609 and died five years later. In 1625 Waldstein Lukov ceded to the Bohemian King Ferdinand II , who handed over the rule to Stephan Schmidt von Freihofen. The formerly rich estate was already heavily in debt at this point. Stephan Schmidt gave it to Messrs. Minkwitz von Minkwitzburg in 1628 and, as the financial difficulties persisted, had to sell it to Messrs. Von Rottal in 1710 for 240,000 guilders and 3,000 guilders key money . In 1724 Jan von Rottal sold the estate to Count Johann Friedrich von Seilern and Aspang, whose descendants held the property until 1945. The management of the estate was relocated to the town at the end of the 18th century and the castle was left to decay.
