history

In the 14th century, a number of guard castles were built in the Vizovice highlands to protect the area against incursions by Hungarians and Tatars. To the east were the castles Světlov and Rýsov , to the northwest the castle Malenovice . The first written message from the village Veledubrawy , which was part of the Malenovice domain, was made in 1406 together with Březůvky . In 1512 the place was called Weledaubrawami . In 1573 Burian Tettauer von Tettau ( Burjan Tetour z Tetova ) together with Weledaubrawami also sold the desert village of Brzezuwek to Wenzel Gajowsky von Gaja ( Václav Gájovský z Gáje ). Between 1589 and 1592 he sold both villages to Johann Hans von Scharatitz ( Jan Hanuš ze Šaratic ), who struck the Velký Ořechov estate . In 1652 Velký Ořechov and all accessories were attached to the Uherský Brod estate . In 1718 the village was called Daubrawa . There is evidence of a Meierhof in the village since 1695, and there was also a stately mill. Until the middle of the 19th century Daubrawa always remained submissive to Uherský Brod.

After the abolition of patrimonial Daubrawa formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration and the judicial district Uherský Brod . Its inhabitants lived from agriculture. In 1872 the place was called Doubrava , in 1893 as Dúbravy and since 1924 as Doubravy . In 1895 the windmill was removed and moved to Březnice. In 1923 the village was assigned to the new judicial district of Zlín and, after Zlín was elevated to a district town in 1935, also to the political district of Zlín. From 1950 the community belonged to the Okres Gottwaldov-okolí and from 1960 back to the Okres Gottwaldov, which since 1990 has been called Okres Zlín again after the political change . The remains of the manor house were removed in 2006. Culturally and ethnographically, the village belongs to the northernmost part of Moravian Slovakia and is located at the transition to Moravian Wallachia .
