Slušovice (German Sluschowitz ) is a city in the Czech Republic . It is located ten kilometers northeast of Zlín on the Dřevnice and belongs to the Okres Zlín .

geography

The city is located in the transition from the Hosteiner Mountains to the Wisowitz Mountains on both sides of the Dřevnice between the confluences of the Trnavka and Všeminka. North of the city is the Slušovice drinking water dam, in which the Dřevnice is dammed. State road 491 leads through Slušovice from Fryšták to state road 49.

Neighboring towns are Březová and Nové Dvory in the north, Neubuz in the northeast, Chrastěšov in the east, Raková and Vizovice in the southeast, Zádveřice in the south, Veselá in the southwest, Hvozdná in the west and Ostrata in the northwest.

history

The first documentary mention as Sluschowicz comes from the year 1261. The place was the seat of the noble family ze Slušovic. In 1373 Jeschek von Sternberg bought the Slušovice manor with the villages Dešná , Neubuz and Všemina from the Šarov brothers and united them with the Lukov manor . In 1407 Slussowicz was first referred to as a market. In 1424 the battle between the troops of the Olomouc bishop John XII took place near Slušovice . of Bucca and Hussite insurgents under Boček III. from Podebrady instead.

In 1562 the town hall was established, for which the landlords Nekesch von Landek made a house available. In 1644 a Sluschowitzer was executed for participating in the Wallachian uprising. During the Silesian Wars, Schluschowitz was burned down by the Prussians in 1742. In 1771, 521 people lived in the market. Emperor Ferdinand I granted Sluschowitz the privilege of holding four annual markets in 1842.

The villages Březová, Dešná, Neubuz, Veselá, Všemina and Hrobice were incorporated in 1976. In the 1970s, the Agrokombinát Slušovice emerged from the agricultural cooperative . In addition, industrial companies were settled. Sports facilities and socialist housing estates were built up until the Velvet Revolution.

Slušovice has had a coat of arms and a banner since 1993. On May 30, 1996, the city was raised.

Attractions

  • Parish church of John the Baptist, the building located on the market was built between 1812 and 1815. In 1938 the church was badly damaged in a fire.
