history

The first written mention of the village of Orechouem was made in 1141 in a document from the Olomouc bishop Heinrich Zdík as spiritual property. Later the estate was divided among different vladiken sexes. In 1355 the Orzechow farm and some properties belonged to Beneš von Ořechov; Višat von Ořechov and Alžběta von Ořechov and their son Racek held further shares. In 1368 the Orsechechowe farm including seven farms belonged to Ondřej von Šarov and from 1384 Mikeš von Malenovic. The latter owned the whole village of Orzechowe in 1407 and sold it to Zikmund von Honbice, who got the title Honbice von Ořechov. In 1485 Vlaštěk von Petropim acquired the estate from the Vladiken Honbice von Ořechov. The following owners were from 1492 Hynek Důň from Žákovice and from 1496 Jan Onšík from Bělkovice. Between 1508 and 1510 the estate belonged to Bernart von Zástřizl and from 1513 Michal von Čachtice and his descendants. In 1518 Jan von Bítkov was named as the lord of Orzechowe , and the festivals were mentioned for the first time. He was followed from 1526 by Jan Ořechovský from Honbice, two years later by Hynek from Zdenín, from 1530 by Václav Tetour from Tetov , then by Kateřina from Torysy and before 1533 by the brothers Adam and Zikmund from Zástřizl on Prakšice. Adam von Zástřizl expanded the property and made the fortress the center of his goods. In 1581 Jan Hanuš from Šaratice bought the estate. The oldest local seal, which bears the inscription Obec Welke Orzechowe , also dates from this time . Between 1603 and 1608 Orzechowe was attached to the Zlín estate under Johann Zendler von Hof . Havel Kurovský von Vrchlabí, who bought Orzechowe in 1608, detached the estate from Zlín. From 1610 the fortress Orzechowe belonged to the subordinate villages Ořechov, Březůvky , Doubravy , Dobrkovice , Hřivínův Újezd , Pašovice , Maršov and Polichno as well as the farms Ořechov, Doubravy, Pašovice, Polichno and the brewery of Kokavor. He sold the festivals and the Meierhof Oržechowy in 1614 for 48,000 guilders to the widow of Johann Haugwitz von Biskupitz, Maria Magdalena von Zierotin . In 1633 the place was referred to as Orzechow , 1671 for the first time as Gross Oržechau and in 1673 in Latin as Magno Orzechouiensis . In 1652 Lev Wilhelm von Kaunitz on Uherský Brod acquired the Hřivínův Újezd and Ořechov estates with the associated forests of Kamenec and V kopcích from the sisters Bohunka and Jana Eusebia Kokorský von Kokor and added them to his rule Uherský Brod. In 1846 the place was called Welky Ořechow or Gross Ořechau . Welky Ořechow always remained submissive to Uherský Brod until the middle of the 19th century . The owners of the estate were the Counts of Kaunitz until the 20th century.

After the abolition of patrimonial Welky Ořechow / Gross Ořechau formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration and the judicial district Uherský Brod . From 1872 the place was called Velký Ořechov / Orzechau . During the German occupation the place was given the Germanized name Großnussdorf . In 1949 the village was assigned to the Okres Zlín . From 1950 the community belonged to the Okres Gottwaldov-okolí and from 1960 back to the Okres Gottwaldov, which since 1990 has been called Okres Zlín again after the political change .

In Velký Ořechov the registers for the parish villages Dobrkovice, Doubravy, Hřivínův Újezd, Kaňovice, Kelníky and Velký Ořechov are kept.
