history

The first written mention of the village Colniczi was made in 1372 in a list of the villages paying bridge money at the Kunowitz Gate in Hradiště . The village Nezdenky was also mentioned, it was south of Kelníky and later became extinct. From 1497 the place was called Kelník and 1550 with Kelnik . Since the 15th century the village belonged to the Částkov rule and from 1554 to Uherský Brod . The subsequent owners of the estate, which became independent again from 1582, were Jan Lév von Brozánky and Václav Hřivín from Újezd on Částkov and, at the beginning of the 17th century, Ondřej Lednický from Lednice. The Kelnik fortress was destroyed when the Transylvanian rebels under Stephan Bocskai invaded. In 1613 Melichar Kozlík von Kašenavy bought the estate, followed by Karel Václav Chorynský von Ledská from 1646. In 1652 Lev Wilhelm von Kaunitz acquired the estate on Uherský Brod and added it to his rule Uherský Brod. When the Turks invaded in 1663, eight residents were murdered and four horses, 26 cattle and 119 sheep were stolen. In 1683 the Turks invaded Kelnik again. The place name Kelnitz has been handed down from the year 1720 and from 1751 the name Kelnik was used again. Until the middle of the 19th century, Kelnik always remained submissive to Uherský Brod. The owners of the estate were the Counts of Kaunitz until the 20th century.

After the abolition of patrimonial Kelník formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration and the judicial district Uherský Brod . From 1872 the place name Kelníky was used. In 1906 the village school was inaugurated. In 1949 the village was assigned to the Okres Uherské Hradiště . The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1950. After the bell tower threatened to collapse, František Minařík, who had emigrated to the USA, donated 15,000 crowns in the 1960s for the previously planned construction of a chapel in his home village, which, however, was not possible due to lack of money. The school closed in 1977. From 1977 the community belonged to Gottwaldov , who has been called Okres Zlín again since 1990 after the political change . The village is parish after Velký Ořechov .
