history

The first indications of a settlement on the Korábek brook come from the year 1413 when, after the death of Georg von Sternberg, his underage son Albert inherited the Lukov rule . It is believed that the residents gave up their settlement on Korábek a little later and built a new one in the area of Hvozdná. The first written mention of the village Hwozdna took place in 1425 in the course of the feud for half of the Lukov lordship between the brothers Albert and Lacek from Sternberg auf Lukov with their cousin Albert von Sternberg auf Holešov , which should be decided by a duel between Recken. The fighter for the Lukov side was a giant from Hwozdna, but he was defeated by his opponent from Prusovice. In 1438 Hwodzna was mentioned in the Olomouc land table in a deed of donation by Albert von Sternberg auf Lukov. Another mention in the country table took place in 1446; it was considered the oldest until the end of the 20th century and was used in 1996 as the occasion of a 550th anniversary celebration. In 1480 a parish was set up in Hwodzna , previously the village was parish to Fryšták . In 1516 Ludmila von Sternberg signed Hwodzna and other goods to Wilhelm Kuna von Kunstadt in the land table . Later the Nekesch von Landek acquired the goods. Lucretia von Witschkow, née Nekesch von Landek, who had inherited the rule in 1607, married Albrecht von Waldstein in 1609 . This tried in vain to recatholize his subjects. In 1625 Waldstein Lukov ceded all accessories to the emperor, who passed the rule to Stephan Schmidt von Freihofen. From this, the Minkwitz von Minkwitzburg acquired the now heavily indebted rule in 1628 , and the first land registers were created. During the Thirty Years War the village became deserted. In 1667 13 of the 23 Hwodzna properties were still in desolation. In 1710 the Lukov estate was sold to the von Rottal family . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village always remained subservient to Lukov .

After the abolition of patrimonial Hwodzna formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Uherský Brod . In the years between 1850 and 1914, numerous residents emigrated to America. From 1855 the village belonged to the Vizovice District and from 1868 to the Holešov District . The current place name Hvodzná has been used since 1872 . In 1896 the school was built. In 1935, Hvodzná was assigned to the new Zlín District. In the 1920s the amateur theater "Kroužek" was built, which in 1929 built its own building. During the German occupation the community was given the Germanized name Tiefenwald . From 1950 Hvodzná belonged to the Okres Gottwaldov-okolí and from 1960 back to the Okres Gottwaldov, which has been called Okres Zlín again since 1990 after the political change . Hvodzná has a coat of arms and a banner. In 2010 Hvozdná was the winner of the Village of the Year competition in Zlínský kraj .
