history

In the founding document of the Smilheim monastery from 1261, the Trnava brook was listed, but the village was not named. It can therefore be assumed that the village did not emerge until the 14th century. The first written mention of Trnawa was in the Olomouc country table in 1368 , when Aleš von Komárov sold his goods in Trnawa and Komárov to Jarušek von Vícemilice. Later the village was attached to the Lukov rule . The other owners included u. a. the Nekesch from Landek. At the transition from the 16th to the 17th century, the number of Lutherans and Bohemian brothers in the rule increased sharply. Lucretia von Witschkow, née Nekesch von Landek, who had inherited the rule in 1607, married Albrecht von Waldstein in 1609 . He had Catholic priests installed again in Fryšták , Kašava and Slušovice . In 1625 Waldstein Lukov ceded all accessories to the emperor, who passed the rule to Stephan Schmidt von Freihofen. From this in 1628 the Minkwitz von Minkwitzburg acquired the now heavily indebted rule. School instruction began in Trnawa at the beginning of the 18th century. In 1710 the lords of Rottal bought Lukov. Johann von Rottal sold the goods to Johann Friedrich von Seilern- Aspang in 1724, whose descendants held the property until 1945. The oldest local seal is from 1728. It shows a deer and is inscribed PECET DEDINI TRNAWI: AN 1728 . With the support of Count Seilern-Aspang, a school was built in Trnawa in 1840. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village always remained subservient to Lukov.

After the abolition of patrimonial Trnava / Trnawa formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Uherský Brod . At that time there was a mill with an overshot water wheel and numerous businesses in the village. From 1855 the village belonged to the Vizovice District and from 1868 to the Holešov District . Until the consecration of its own church in 1911, Trnava was parish after Slušovice. In 1930 there were 73 businesses in Trnava. In 1935 Trnava was assigned to the Zlín District. From 1949 Trnava belonged to Okres Gottwaldov-okolí and from 1960 back to Okres Gottwaldov, which after the political change of 1989 has been called Okres Zlín again since 1990. Between 1961 and 1969 Trnava was merged with Podkopná Lhota to form a municipality Trnava-Podkopná Lhota. Today's school was built on the site of a former distillery, the old schoolhouse was converted into a community office and post office.
