history

The first written mention of Lhota was in 1362 in connection with the payment of the bridge fee in the royal city of Hradiště . In 1378 Lhota was the seat of Vladiken Vojtěch von Šarov. His descendant Oneš von Šarov transferred the estate to the brothers Hynko and Bohuš von Šonvald in 1415, who connected Lhota to their rule Malenovice .

From 1670 the village, consisting of 35 properties, was called Hruba Lhota and 1672 Lhota Maior to distinguish it from a place of the same name a few kilometers north . The German name Gross Lhota has been traceable since 1718 . In 1780 the village consisted of 41 farms. The oldest local seal dates from 1781. In 1783 the farm was divided into 25 Podsedeken . Until the middle of the 19th century Lhota always remained submissive to Malenovice.

After the abolition of patrimonial Lhota formed from 1850 a municipality in the district authority Holešov and the judicial district Napajedla . From 1855 the municipality belonged to the Napajedla District and from 1869 to the Uherské Hradiště District . In July 1866, a major fire destroyed two thirds of the village, including the school. In the same year Prussian troops brought in cholera. Since 1872 the municipality was called Velká Lhota . The church was consecrated in 1900. After eight houses and a barn had burned down in another major fire in 1901, the volunteer fire department was founded in 1903. Until 1910 Velká Lhota was parish in Malenovice, after the construction of a rectory the Catholic parish Velká Lhota was established . The road to Karlovice was built in 1912 and the road to Březolupy followed the following year . The municipality has been called Lhota since 1925 , although the place was originally called Lhota u Malenovic . In March 1925, as part of the land reform, the division of the Malenovice estate began. On December 1, 1930, the municipality bought 42 hectares of forest from the Malenovice estate. At that time the village consisted of 179 houses and had 820 inhabitants.

In 1935 the municipality was assigned to the newly created political and judicial district of Zlín. In the last days of the Second World War, Lhota was on the frontline and the forest between Karlovice, Lhota and Malenovice was mined. On May 2, 1945 the Romanian army took Lhota. From 1950 the community belonged to the Okres Gottwaldov-okolí and from 1960 back to the Okres Gottwaldov, which since 1990 has been called Okres Zlín again after the political change . In 1980 Lhota was incorporated into Gottwaldov and formed the district of Gottwaldov-Lhota. In 1990 Lhota broke away from Zlín.
