history

In the 14th century, a number of guard castles were built in the Vizovice highlands to protect the area against incursions by Hungarians and Tatars. To the east were the castles Světlov and Rýsov , to the northwest the castle Malenovice . The first written message from the village of Brzezuowka , which was part of the Malenovice domain , came in 1406. In the second half of the 15th century, the place was burned down during the power struggles between Matthias Corvinus and Georg von Podebrady and later completely deserted by epidemics. In 1573 Burian Tettauer von Tettau ( Burjan Tetour z Tetova ) together with Doubravy also sold the desert village of Brzezuwek to Wenzel Gajowsky von Gaja ( Václav Gájovský z Gáje ). He had the desert village repopulated around 1580. Between 1589 and 1592 Gajowsky sold Bržiezuwky and Doubravy to Johann Hans von Scharatitz ( Jan Hanuš ze Šaratic ), who added the villages to his Velký Ořechov estate . In 1652 the Velký Ořechov manor was attached to the Uherský Brod estate . In 1671 the village was called Bržezuwka and in 1720 Bržezuwek . The first village school was founded in 1817. Until the middle of the 19th century, Bržezuwek always remained submissive to Uherský Brod.

After the abolition of patrimonial Bržezuwek formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration and the judicial district Uherský Brod . Its inhabitants lived from agriculture. The current place name Březůvky has been in use since 1872. In 1898 a new school building was built. The planned construction of a church at the beginning of the 20th century was prevented by the outbreak of the First World War. In 1923 the village was assigned to the new judicial district of Zlín and, after Zlín was elevated to a district town in 1935, also to the political district of Zlín. In 1935 a forest cooperative was formed which bought 180 hectares of manorial forest. In the following year a cemetery was established in Březůvky. From 1950 the community belonged to the Okres Gottwaldov-okolí and from 1960 back to the Okres Gottwaldov, which since 1990 has been called Okres Zlín again after the political change .
