Heinrich Friedrich Christoph Rampendahl

Heinrich Friedrich Christoph Rampendahl (born August 3, 1822 in Ronnenberg , † November 29, 1891 in Hamburg ) was a Hamburg ivory carver and sculptor.

He had been working in Hamburg since 1843, where he was also a teacher at the arts and crafts school. He had a shop in the Alsterarkaden , later on Gänsemarkt 2.

With his antler furniture he was represented at the London Industrial Exhibition in 1851 and at the World Exhibition in 1862 and achieved success there. In collaboration with Heinrich Plumbeck, he created inlays made of wood and ivory. Some of his furniture is now in the Victoria and Albert Museum . He is credited with setting up the Horn Room at Osborne House in 1851. Rampendahl was a member of the Hamburger Künstlerverein and the Allgemeine Deutsche Kunstgenossenschaft .

Few of his oil paintings exist in private ownership.

Rampendahl was a member of the Hamburg Parliament from 1886 to 1891 . There he belonged to the Left Center parliamentary group .
