history

Světlov Castle was probably built in the 14th century when a number of guard castles were built to protect the country against incursions by Hungarians and Tatars. Rýsov Castle was a good two kilometers to the west and Engelsberg Castle was just under three kilometers to the northeast . Other sources assume that Světlov was only built around 1360 as a replacement for the Rýsov Castle, which had been ruined since the attack by Matthäus Csák .

The first written reports about Světlov Castle date back to 1360 and indicate that it was owned by Albert von Sternberg . By marriage in 1393 the castle came to Wok IV von Krawarn and in 1406 it fell back to his widow Eliška Světlovská von Sternberg. In 1412, the lordship of the castle included the villages of Provodov , Pozlovice , Ludkovice , Luhačovice , Bojkovice , Žilín, half of Ústí, Krhov, Pitín , Hostětín and Komňa . 1418 put Eliška Světlovská von Sternberg Jaroslav von Sternberg as co-owner. After his death in the Battle of Vyšehrad , Eliška sold the castle to the future Emperor Sigismund in 1420 . After his death, his widow Barbara von Cilli became the owner of the estate. From the possession of the crown, the rule came to Heinrich von Leipa and finally to the Hungarian robber baron Pankraz von Svätý Mikuláš . After this became a nuisance, the Moravian estates bought the castles Engelsberg and Světlov in 1449 and sold them to Burian von Vlčnov. In the power struggles between Georg von Podiebrad and Matthias Corvinus , the castles Světlov and Engelsberg were destroyed. Ctibor von Landstein had the Nový Světlov Castle built near Bojkovice as the new seat of the rule between 1480 and 1500 . The abandoned castle was henceforth called Starý Světlov . From 1515 the desert castles Starý Světlov and Engelsberg began to be demolished as building material.

Are preserved trenches and ramparts and the remains of the northern outer wall.
