history

The first written mention of Luthonin took place in 1261 when the Smilheim monastery was founded by Smil von Zbraslav and Střílky . Smil left extensive lands to the Cistercians, which included Vizovice and Luthonin and 24 other villages. In 1481 the village was called Lutoninu . After the fall of the monastery, Zigmund Kuna von Kunstadt , a descendant of the monastery founder, received the monastic property for the purpose of renovating the monastery, which however never took place. The place name Litonina has been handed down from 1531 . Owners of the Vizovice manor were after the Lords of Kunstadt from 1549 Wenceslas from Boskowitz and from 1567 Zdeněk Kavka from Říčany. In 1578 the village was called Litoniin . In 1585, the Schulzenhof for Lutonina was recorded in the land register of the Vizovice manor with a heap of arable land, five half-huefers, four three-eighth huefers, six Podsedeken and a mill. In 1594, the Hungarian nobleman Emerich Dóczy de Nagy Lucsie (Emerich Dóczy z Natluče) acquired the rule; he tried to recatholize the subjects. After the Battle of the White Mountain in 1621, the residents of the area rose against religious oppression and serfdom. After the Wallachian Uprising was put down, around 200 insurgents, including nine from Lutonina, were executed in Vsetín in 1644 . The current name Lutonina has been in use since 1670 . In 1775 the village consisted of 14 farmers, six large Podsedeken, three Kleinpodsedeken and 27 Chaluppen. When a forged tolerance patent was read out on the Hostýn in 1777 in order to uncover the true religious beliefs of the subjects, Lutonina was one of the more than 40 villages that mostly professed Protestantism. In Lutonina there were 240 inhabitants. Subsequently, many of the Protestants were sentenced to fortress work in Hungary. In 1790 the village consisted of 74 houses and had 407 inhabitants. The other landlords included u. a. Prokop Graf von Gollen, Marie Anna Minckwitz von Minckwitzburg , Hermann Hemilton von Blümegg and Philipp Stillfried-Rattonitz . In 1834 the village had grown to 82 houses in which 438 people lived. The main source of income was agriculture, but it was not very profitable. Until the middle of the 19th century, Lutonina always remained subject to the rule of Wisowitz .

After the abolition of patrimonial Lutonin formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Uherský Brod . From 1855 the village belonged to the Vizovice District and from 1868 to the Holešov District . In 1872 a private church school was established in Jasenná, which the children from Lutonina also attended. From 1887 the official name was Lutonina / Luttonina . Lutonina had 450 inhabitants in 1900 and consisted of 95 houses. The school in Jasenná was converted into a public school in 1901. From 1903 there were efforts in Lutonina to set up a school of their own, which, however, was not supported by the municipal council. At this time, due to poverty, they began to migrate to more fertile areas or to America. The need worsened between the two world wars. Only some of the residents found work in external companies, especially near Baťa in Zlín . In 1931, the municipal council decided to build its own school, but construction did not take place due to the global economic crisis. In 1934, construction work began on the Zlín - Valašská Polanka railway near Lutonina , but it was only completed as far as Vizovice. In 1935, Lutonina was assigned to the Zlín District. From 1949 Lutonina belonged to the Okres Gottwaldov-okolí and from 1960 back to the Okres Gottwaldov, which has been called Okres Zlín again since 1990 after the political change in 1989.
