The Otrokovice – Vizovice (also Baťova dráha ) railway is a railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated as the Otrokovice – Zlin – Wisowitz (Otrokovicko-zlínsko-vizovická dráha; OZVD) local line . It leads from Otrokovice via Zlín (1949/90: Gottwaldov ) to Vizovice . The construction of an extension to Valašská Polanka began in 1935, but was not completed.

Between Otrokovice and Zlín střed the line belongs to the state network ("celostátní dráha"), between Zlín střed and Vizovice it is classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha").

outlook

In the next few years, the expansion plans from the 1930s will be implemented. In addition to the double-track expansion between Otrokovice and Zlín střed and the completion of the new route to Valašská Polanka, the electrification of the entire route is also planned. The maximum line speed is to be increased to 100 km / h in the urban area of Zlín, the remaining line to Valašská Polanka is to be expanded for a line speed of 90 km / h. A total investment of CZK 4.6 billion is currently expected .

Train traffic

At present (2008) the local traffic route is served every hour , which is compressed to half an hour during the working day rush hour in the section Otrokovice – Zlín střed. A single pair of express trains connects Zlín střed with Prague in the early morning and returns in the evening.

Vehicle use

In local transport, the tried and tested two-axle railcars of the 810 series and their modernized variant of the 814 series are mostly used today . The express trains from Zlín to Prague run on class 754 diesel locomotives .
