history

The village was probably founded during colonization in the 13th century. The first written mention of the village of Lhota , which belonged to the Luckow estate , took place in 1512. The village was parish at that time after Želechovice , later it came to the parish of Kašava . The owners of the Lukov estate were in the 16th century a. a. the Nekesch from Landek. Lucretia von Witschkow, née Nekesch von Landek, who had inherited the rule in 1607, married Albrecht von Waldstein in 1609 . In 1612 Lhota consisted of nine estates, including two farmers and five gardeners. In 1625 Waldstein Lukov ceded all accessories to the emperor, who passed the rule to Stephan Schmidt von Freihofen. From this in 1628 the Minkwitz von Minkwitzburg acquired the now heavily indebted rule. The place name changed several times. In 1671 the village was called Lhota Podkopnj , in 1672 as Lhotka and in 1718 as Lhotta Podkoppny . The addition is derived from the location of the village below the Kopná mountain. In 1710 the lords of Rottal bought Lukov. Johann von Rottal sold the goods in 1724 to Johann Friedrich Graf von Seilern -Aspang, whose descendants held the property until it was expropriated in 1945. The oldest local seal dates from 1744. It shows a man with a top hat and is inscribed PECZET. (OB) CE. LHOTECKÉ. 1744 . The place name Lhota Podkopnj has been handed down again from 1751 . The inhabitants lived from agriculture, with fruit growing dominating despite the harsh climate. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village always remained subservient to Lukov.

After the abolition of patrimonial Lhota / Lhotta formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Uherský Brod . From 1855 the village belonged to the Vizovice District and from 1868 to the Holešov District . From 1872 the municipality was called Podkopná Lhota / Lhotta Podkopna . In 1935 Podkopná Lhota was assigned to the Zlín District. During the German occupation , the community was given the German name Unterfang . From 1949 Podkopná Lhota belonged to Okres Gottwaldov-okolí and from 1960 back to Okres Gottwaldov, which after the political change of 1989 has been called Okres Zlín again since 1990. Between 1961 and 1969 Podkopná Lhota was merged with Trnava to form a municipality Trnava-Podkopná Lhota.

The Sprint Kopná rally is organized annually by the local Motorsport Association MTK Podkopná Lhota.

Podkopná Lhota has a coat of arms that shows two crossed pieces of silver branches, each with a sloe attached to them, and a silver sword in the middle between them.
