The Birkigsbach (also Auegraben ) is a left tributary of the Kinzig in the district of Aschaffenburg and Main-Kinzig-Kreis in the Bavarian and Hessian Vorspessart . It rises as Näßlichbach between Geiselbach and Linsengericht -Waldrode and flows into the Kinzig near Niedermittlau .

The Näßlichbach rises at the foot of the Franzosenkopf (481 m), between Geiselbach and Waldrode , on state road 2306 , directly on the border between Bavaria and Hesse. It flows along the Rochusberg (333 m) initially in a south-westerly direction into the Näßlichgrund nature reserve . This was previously seen as the northern limit of the Sölzert . Coming from Geiselbach the Budemichgraben flows towards the Näßlichbach . Opposite its mouth is the Horbacher Mariengrotte. Shortly before Horbach, the Näßlichbach feeds the local water treading facility . The outflow of the gondola pond reaches the stream there from the left. The Näßlichbach then flows through the place. On the western edge of the village, he crossed the previously existing route of the Freigerichter Kleinbahn . There the Schnellmichbach flows into it. It runs west to Altenmittlau . From the village onwards it bears the name Birkigsbach .

In Altenmittlau, the Birkigsbach bends north. The Weismichsbach flows to the northwest of the district . From there on it divides several times. The Birkigsbach passes under at Niedermittlau the highway 3296 (formerly Federal Highway 40 ) and the Kinzigtal path and opens between Niedermittlau and Langenselbold near the Spakebrücke from the left in the Kinzig .
