Niedermittlau is one of the three districts of the Hasselroth community in the Main-Kinzig district of Hesse . The place consists of two parts, namely the Altdorf and the train station settlement about 1000 m to the north.

The place is on the edge of the Hessian Spessart in the Büdingen-Meerholzer hill country .

history

Evangelical Laurentius Church in Niedermittlau

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1151 by the Selbold monastery . It mentions a chapel in Mittlau. Settlement must have taken place beforehand. Linen weaving was practiced in Niedermittlau from the 16th to the 19th century .

The place used to belong to the district of Gelnhausen and in 1939 had a total of 1102 inhabitants.

On July 1, 1974, Niedermittlau was incorporated into the municipality of Hasselroth by law as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

Facilities

  • There is an event hall in town, the Friedrich-Hofacker-Halle.
  • For the young residents there is the Am Krähenwald day-care center , a Protestant day-care center and a primary school .
A regional train from Wächtersbach to Frankfurt (Main) Hbf makes an unscheduled stop on platform 3 of the Niedermittlau station. In the background, the bridge of the bypass road from Gründau to Niedermittlau can be seen.

State road 3269 and district roads 862, 902 and 903 meet in the village . Federal motorway 66 runs to the north . In the settlement there is the Niedermittlau stop on the Fulda – Hanau railway line, the Hessian Kinzig Valley Railway . It was opened in 1860.
