Richard Paul Gusmann (wrongly also Gussmann ; born October 1, 1866 in Wandsbek ; † November 1, 1941 in Schlutup near Lübeck ) was a German doctor, bryologist and entomologist .

Live and act

Gusmann was born in 1866 in Wandsbek, then Prussia, and after graduating from high school in Wandsbek he studied medicine at the universities of Jena , Halle (Saale) and Leipzig . In Jena he was in 1886 in connection Salia active but which he left in 1895 and again in the connection and subsequent fraternity Holzminda in Göttingen occurred. After completing his doctorate at the University of Leipzig, he first worked in hospitals in Hamburg, then from 1897 in Schlutup near Lübeck in a rural practice.

Gusmann died in Schlutup near Lübeck in 1941. In 2008, the Lübeck Museum for Nature and Environment dealt with Paul Gusmann as a natural scientist in an exhibition. The Lübeck museum still houses his local faunistic beetle collection as well as collections of moss, algae and lichens.
