Klaus Kießling

Klaus Kießling (born July 13, 1962 in Stuttgart ) is a Roman Catholic theologian , psychologist , pastoral psychologist , psychotherapist, supervisor, deacon and university professor . He is professor at the Philosophical-Theological University of Sankt Georgen in Frankfurt am Main and there director of the seminar for religious education , catechetics and didactics as well as the institute for pastoral psychology and spirituality .

Life

Klaus Kießling studied Catholic theology (with a diploma) and psychology (with a diploma) in Würzburg and Freiburg (Breisgau). This was followed by doctoral studies in psychology (Dr. phil. 1997) at the University of Bern and in practical theology (Dr. theol. 2001) at the University of Friborg . In 2004, Kießling received his habilitation at the University of Tübingen and was appointed private lecturer for religious education and catechetics. In the non-university area, he also completed training in client-centered conversation management (GWG), as a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist (BDP), and as a trainer for pastoral psychology, as a supervisor and as a teaching supervisor (DGfP).

From 1986 to 1988 Kießling worked at the pastoral psychology department of the Theological Faculty of the University of Würzburg , from 1988 to 1998 research assistant at the Institute for Caritas Science and Christian Social Work at the Theological Faculty of the University of Freiburg i.Br. , in 1992 and 1993 also at the Catholic Academy of the Archdiocese of Freiburg and at the Psychological Institute of the University of Freiburg i.Br.

From 1998 to 2003 he worked as a visiting lecturer at the Lahti University of Applied Sciences (Finland), and from 1998 to 2002 he was also a research assistant at the Department of Religious Education, Kerygmatics and Church Adult Education of the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Tübingen. He was responsible for the scientific coordination of the interdisciplinary pilot project "Religiosity and Family" at the University of Tübingen (research funding from the State of Baden-Württemberg) from 2000 to 2002. From 2002 to 2004 he was deputy head of the Institute for Vocational Religious Education at the Catholic Theological Institute Faculty of the University of Tübingen. Since 2004 he has held the professorship for religious education, pastoral psychology and psychology at the Philosophical-Theological University of Sankt Georgen in Frankfurt am Main.

In 2004 he was ordained permanent deacon of the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese .

Klaus Kießling is married and has two sons.

Non-university activities

From 1978 to 1987 Klaus Kießling was active in church youth work in the parish of St. Peter and Paul in Leinfelden-Musberg, and since 1984 also in the church nursing association in Leinfelden-Echterdingen. As part of his community service, he worked from 1982 to 1983 in the care and upbringing of children and adolescents with multiple disabilities at the Maulbronn Children's Center. From 1991 to 1999 he looked after prisoners in the prison in Freiburg i.Br. and worked in the Catholic Working Group for Aid to Criminals of the Working Group for Aid at Risk and Youth Protection (AGJ) in the Archdiocese of Freiburg i.Br. With.

From 1995 to 2004 he worked in pastoral psychological practice, in psychotherapy and supervision in various diaconal fields of activity. From 1995 to 2003 he taught Catholic religious studies at vocational schools and high schools in Germany and abroad, especially in Freiburg i.Br. and in Lahti (Finland).
