František Rydval (born February 21, 1946 in Liberec ) is a former Czechoslovakian ski jumper .

Career

Rydval made his international debut at the Four Hills Tournament in 1966/67 . He achieved a top 10 placement in three of the four competitions and ended up in 14th place overall. A year later, after having only competed in the jumping competitions in Austria , despite two top 20 placings, he was only 65th overall.

At the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble , Rydval jumped from the normal hill to 12th place and from the large hill reached 27th place.

With the Four Hills Tournament 1968/69 Rydval denied his most successful tour. After finishing 14th in Oberstdorf, he landed on the Great Olympic Hill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with third place for the first and only time on the podium. After finishing in the top ten in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen , he finished the tour with 848.2 points in fifth place overall.

In the following three years Rydval was unable to build on this success. In the Four Hills Tournament 1969/70 he only reached 21st place overall and in his last Four Hills Tournament 1971/72 only 32nd place.
