Franz Amling
Franz Josef Ferdinand Amling , actually Franz Josef Ferdinand Zink (* 1853 in Trier ; † August 27, 1894 in Schleissheim ) was a German landscape, battle and hunting painter as well as draftsman and illustrator.
Franz Amling was born the son of the lawyer Adam Viktor August Zink called Amling and his wife Angela, née Frey. He fought as a volunteer in the Franco-German War of 1870/1871 . He initially worked as a draftsman.
Franz Amling studied at the art school of the Städelsche Kunstinstitut in Frankfurt am Main with Heinrich Hasselhorst , then from January 8, 1885 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich in the painting school of Ludwig von Löfftz . Towards the end of his studies he won 20,000 marks in a lottery, which ensured him a carefree life. He married Juliana nee Pasbach.
After completing his studies, he worked in Munich as a freelance landscape, battle and hunting painter. In the fall of 1888 he left Munich, settled in Schleissheim and set up his studio there. He became a pioneer of outdoor painting . He was friends with Josef Huber-Feldkirch .
Franz Amling died at the age of 41. He left a daughter and a son. His students included u. a. Johann Daniel Wood .
