Franz Brand (politician)

Franz Brand (born January 18, 1887 in Wienerwald , Lower Austria ; † December 1, 1968 in Wiener Neustadt , Lower Austria) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

Franz Brand was working , who after visiting the elementary school the profession of Turner learned. In the course of his professional life, however, he also worked in agriculture or in a metalworking factory.

He became involved in the union early on , was elected secretary of the Free Metalworkers Union or was elected district secretary of the ÖGB for the Wiener Neustadt district in the Second Republic .

Brand held his first political mandate from 1919, when he moved into the municipal council of Wiener Neustadt. He remained a councilor until 1934. During the period of National Socialism , Brand was interned from May to December 1934 and had to serve a short term again in July 1944.

In 1946, Brand was elected Vice Mayor of Wiener Neustadt. He remained in this position until 1960.

From February 1952 to June 1959 he was a member of the Federal Council in Vienna .
