Franz Dengler

Franz Dengler (born July 30, 1890 in Karlsbad , † November 27, 1963 in Vienna ) was an Austrian - Bohemian trumpeter .

Life

Franz Dengler studied trumpet at the Conservatory in Dresden , now University of Music Carl Maria von Weber . At the request of Richard Strauss , he was engaged in Berlin in 1908 at the Royal Opera , today the State Opera Unter den Linden . At the suggestion of Franz Schalk , he went to the Vienna Court Opera in 1918 , today the Vienna State Opera . There he worked as the first trumpeter and solo trumpeter until 1955. He played the world premiere of the trumpet concerto in Bb by Karl Pilss, which was dedicated to him in 1934 .

From 1931 to 1959 he taught at the Vienna Music Academy, today the University of Music and Performing Arts . He was appointed professor in 1932 . In 1960 he received the Cross of Honor for Science and Art . His most famous students were Adolf Scherbaum and Helmut Wobisch .
