Franz Eduard Erpf

Franz Eduard Erpf (born February 16, 1807 in St. Gallen ; † January 22, 1851 ibid) was a Swiss lawyer , businessman and politician .

biography

Franz Eduard Erpf studied at the Universities of Göttingen , Munich and Heidelberg law . In Göttingen he became a member of the Corps Helvetia in 1826. In Munich he joined the Corps Rhenania in 1827. He completed his studies in 1829 with a doctorate .

He joined his parents' finishing company in St. Gallen, which he ran with his brother. He founded another company in Weissenau in Upper Swabia.

Politically, he was committed to the development of the postal system, both at cantonal and federal level. From 1835 to 1843 and from 1845 to 1847 he was a liberal member of the St. Gallen Cantonal Council . From 1836 to 1843 he was president of the cantonal postal commission and from 1840 to 1843 of the court of cassation. From 1849 to 1851 he was responsible for the interior as the St. Gallen government councilor . In 1848 he ran in the first parliamentary elections and was a member of the National Council until 1851 .
