Franz Eppich ( March 23, 1835 in Graz - November 8, 1893 in Vienna ) was an Austrian stage actor and opera and operetta singer (tenor).

Life

Eppich, brother of the actor Joseph Eppich (1823 – after 1857) began his career as an opera singer at the German Theater in Pest in 1851/1852 , worked for a long time in Graz and during this time made several guest appearances at the Vienna Court Opera. In 1866 he went to the Carltheater, where he was a celebrated operetta singer until 1882.

From 1882 to 1891 he was more an actor than a singer at the Theater an der Wien . In 1891 his memory began to suffer, so that he could eventually only take on minor roles.

In March 1892 he suffered a stroke from which he recovered, but not enough to be able to continue. The "painter" in Lumpaci Vagabundus was his last role. Another stroke occurred on April 22nd, 1893, which drove the artist into a rage and complete mental derangement. Eppich died on November 8, 1893.
