Franz Ferdinand Eiffe (born November 11, 1825 in Hamburg , † June 18, 1875 in Wandsbek ) was a Hamburg merchant and senator.

Life

Eiffe was a Hamburg merchant who, in addition to his commercial activities, belonged to the lower court from 1860 to 1862 . From 1864 to 1866 Eiffe was a member of the finance deputation. During his work in the lower court and in the finance deputation , Eiffe also belonged to the Hamburg parliament . On June 15, 1866, he was elected to the Hamburg Senate .

After Eiffe had been active in the finance deputation for some time, he became head of the construction deputation from 1872. This was responsible for all of the city's public buildings. He was also landlord of the Geestlande . In addition to his work in the Senate, Eiffe worked on several supervisory boards as chairman of the Anglo Deutsche Bank, the Hanseatic Construction Company and the German Transatlantic Steamship Company ( Adler Line ).

During the so-called Founding Crisis of 1874, Eiffe lost his entire fortune and before he could resign from the Senate, he died after a short illness. His successor was Johann Stahmer .

Eiffe was married to Susan Godeffroy (1833-1871) and had a son of the same name: Franz Ferdinand Eiffe , who was from 1904 to 1918 a member of the Hamburg parliament .

In the Ohlsdorf cemetery , one of the collective grave slabs of Senators (IV) from the Althamburg Memorial Cemetery commemorates Franz Ferdinand Eiffe, among others.
