Franz Gíslason

Franz Gíslason (born November 19, 1935 in Reykjavík , Iceland ; † April 26, 2006 ibid) was a translator and editor of Icelandic literature in Germany and German literature in Iceland.

Life

Franz Gíslason grew up in Iceland and went to high school there, later he completed a degree in history in Leipzig and pedagogical studies in Reykjavík.

He married twice and had a son in his first marriage and two sons in his second marriage, both marriages were divorced.

In Iceland he worked in a variety of ways as a teacher, guide, translator and editor. He was also active as a translator and editor in Germany, especially in the series die horen (together with Wolfgang Schiffer ).
