Franz Gotthard von Schaffgotsch
Franz Gotthard Joseph von Schaffgotsch (born May 11, 1816 in Prague , † November 29, 1864 in Berlin ) was a German chemist , mineralogist and physicist .
Life
Franz Gotthard von Schaffgotsch came from the noble family Schaffgotsch . He was a son of Leopold Gotthard Karl Borromäus Johann Graf Schaffgotsch called Semperfrei von und zu Kynast und Greiffenstein (* November 2, 1764, † January 24, 1834) and his wife Johanna Nepomucena, née Countess von Wurmbrand-Stuppach (* 4. January 1774, † July 28, 1834).
He studied natural sciences at the University of Berlin and was later awarded a Dr. phil. PhD .
Franz Gotthard von Schaffgotsch researched mainly on chemical and physical issues and published his findings regularly in the Annalen der Physik und Chemie from 1836 onwards .
In 1844 he became an extraordinary and in 1859 a full member of the Society of Friends of Natural Sciences in Berlin .
On January 20, 1858, Franz Gotthard Joseph von Schaffgotsch with the academic surname Savart was accepted as a member ( matriculation no. 1849 ) in the German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina .
