Jacek Wilewski (born March 19, 1952 in Warsaw ) is a Polish - Swiss artist .

life and work

Wilewski grew up in Poland. In 1968 he and his father were granted political asylum in Switzerland and moved to Lausanne . From 1974 to 1979 he attended the École cantonale de beaux-arts de Lausanne , where he obtained a Diplôme en sculpture et gravure in 1979 . In 1983 he was naturalized in Switzerland . He exhibited in Lausanne, Luxembourg , Baden AG , Oerlikon , Zurich , Perroy VD and 1990 in Diekirch , among others .

In his work ( drawings , sculpture, etc.), which deals with the human body , Wilewski was influenced by Balthus . Because of the authenticity of his works, the Polish art historian Szymon Bojko calls him a “ Van Gogh of Poland ” and an “undesirable artist”. Bojko designed a documentary about him.
