Franz Gruber (politician, 1956)

Franz Gruber (born July 18, 1956 in Klein Sankt Paul , Carinthia ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Life

Franz Gruber enjoyed training as a farmer . After graduating from compulsory school, he attended an agricultural college from 1972 to 1974. Then he graduated from the higher federal college for alpine agriculture in the Styrian Irdning ; In 1982 he was given the title of engineer .

First he worked from 1979 to 1986 as an agricultural technician for the office of the Carinthian provincial government ; Gruber has been a full-time farmer since 1986.

In 1991, Gruber became the local party chairman of the ÖVP in Kappel am Krappfeld , which was followed in 1995 by the appointment of a member of the local council . In 1996 Gruber became head of the ÖVP in the Sankt Veit an der Glan district .

From April 1999 to March 2004, Franz Gruber was a member of the Federal Council in Vienna .

Franz Gruber is the father of five children; his eldest son Martin Gruber was elected mayor of Kappel am Krappfeld in 2009 at the age of 25, making him the youngest mayor of Carinthia at the time.
